Department of Anatomy

VISION

Department of Anatomy works with vision to gives students complete knowledge on the subject of Human Anatomy from gross to cellular aspects along with human embryological concepts which forms the basis to understand clinical aspects of diseased individual and helps the budding Homoeopathic student to achieve the highest ideal of cure in Wholistic method.

MISSION

• Adoption of Integrated teaching for better outcome in the student understanding and attaing the knowledge in Human Anatomy:
o Close correlation in the teaching of gross Anatomy, Histology, Embryology and Genetics and the teaching of Anatomy, Physiology including Bio Chemistry along with Homoeopathic subjects are integrated.
o Anatomy is taught with applied anatomy in the background, hence student can understand with clinical integration. Clinical integration with relevance of Homoeopathic concepts also helps in better understanding suffering individuals.
o Tutorial classes with the demonstrations/Dissection, Seminars and group discussion to be arranged periodically with view of presenting these subjects in an integrated manner.
o Integration in regional and systemic anatomy is required.

• Teaching–Learning Methods adopted for better understanding of Human anatomy:
Different teaching-learning methods are adopted in classroom lectures, small group discussions, case discussion where case-based learning (CBL) and problem based learning (PBL). In process of Clinical Anatomy – DOAP (Demonstration – Observation– Assistance – Performance) is very well applicable. Teaching and Demonstration methods should be supported with latest software/Practical/Charts/Working or 3D Diagrams, Audio-Visual/ Multimedia presentation/Stimulation to train clinical application.

• Mission to give Knowledge on 1.Anatomy Act 2. Body donation procedure and its legal aspects. 3. Develop respect to the human cadaver, empathy towards diseased and sense of gratification for the voluntary body donors and their families 4. Anatomy and Ethics.

• Competency based learning: Competency based learning where students are trained in critical thinking, evidence-based practice and possess research aptitude and documentation skills necessary in professional work.

• Students are trained to correlate the structural organization of man with functional organization and its applied aspect. Also he can correlate structural organization of man with homeopathic philosophy and concept of man, homoeopathic Materia Medica, Repertory and Pharmacy as well.

The Subject of Anatomy is included for 1stB.H.M.S course as per K.N.R University of health sciences& Central Council of Homoeopathy.

Academically we are strictly conducting the Theory and Practical(human cadaveric dissection) classes with experienced faculty and guest faculty. Teaching is done by using Power point presentation with relevant videos apart from orthodox Chalk andBoard method. Demonstrations have been done with specimens (preserved Human body parts). As per curriculum we are also conducting Tutorials, Webinars and Seminars.

The Department is well equipped with a Dissection Hall with Cadaver storage tank. Departmental museum has good number of Specimens, Bone Sets, Charts, Models, Human Histology slides and Radiology films. Department is well equipped with library having latest reference books.
Human Anatomy is base to all subjects of Medical education hence we are trying to make the foundation very strong within stipulated time and Curriculum provided by K.N.R University of health sciences and Central Council of Homoeopathy.

We have completed 2 Academic batches and secured first 3 ranks in anatomy subject in K.N.R University of health sciences examinations for 2016-17 batch.
